Is it hard to transfer from pc gaming to console gaming?

I have been a PC gamer for all of my life, I’ve never a played a game on a console at all, but I have heard that halo 3 is unlikely to be brought to the PC for a long time so I was wondering: Will it be hard for me to learn to use a joy-pad? What will the main differences be other than that?
